04 - Cosmic Space

The immensity of the cosmos, whose dimensions are expressed by colossal numbers, scares people into generalizing the notion that the universe is too vast to be appreciated by the human being's limited perception. That is false. One of the most surprising characteristics of Astronomy is its capacity to evaluate with reasonable precision the distances and sizes of the cosmic features. And anything measurable is also conceivable.

In this journey across the universe, will be shown that it is possible to create quite approximate mental images of the objects that populate our Solar System, our galaxy, and even of the most distant cosmic objects. By using the imagination of visual models in scale, it becomes possible to build a fully satisfactory idea, not only of the size and distances of planets and stars as well as the most remote galaxies, quasars and other contents of the universe.

At the end of the trip, the impression that will remain won't be one of our insignificant minuteness in face of the cosmic vastness. On the contrary, what will be evidenced, and in a certain way demonstrated, is the wonderful feeling of the immeasurable greatness of the human spirit.

05 - The Old Reality

The Western Greco-Roman Jewish-Christian civilization, today dominant in nearly the whole planet Earth, is based on scientific-philosophical underlying assumptions originated in Ancient Greece. Although there is a consensus that this is true, these Greek-rooted metaphysical postulations are not always explicitly disclosed, mainly because another admitted perception is that objective reality corresponds to them and "everything is really like that". That view prevailed till the end of the 20th century, when the scientific-materialist model exhausted itself.

However, the epistemological crisis that appeared in science starting from the quantum perplexities, besides to growing evidence that psychological phenomena don't adjust to that model, led to question those metaphysical bases and to the proposition of an alternative model, outside the original philosophical assumptions of Greek origin.

In this beginning of a millennium, the revolution brought by the new paradigm subverts the notion of what is knowledge and the own idea of objective reality we have been living together, along the many centuries civilization became used to the Greek inheritance.

06 - The New Reality

It hovers in the air of this Symposium a climate of casualness and affectivity that approximates the participants in an atmosphere of sincerity and harmony. Every day that passes, the tenor of the conferences becomes more daring. Themes not usually discussed come to the surface with widening freedom, showing that the lecturers seem to be abandoning their academic masks, their hierarchies and their formalities.

Competition gives place to collaboration, emerging from that new attitude a critical vision on the usual way of doing science in universities and private laboratories. A new ethics is prefigured, where the detachment of the self-centeredness appears as a characteristic of the new sage: one that doesn't fear to study and research anything he or she appreciates, without being restricted to the impositions of the paradigm.

The theory of the relational consistence is presented here in a clear way, as an interpretation of the quantum paradoxes that incorporates the imaginary face of the wholeness, recognizing scientifically the subjective world of the human psyche as a valuable face of the cosmic totality. This way, the old objective reality is transmuted into a complex inter-subjective reality.
